Fix Me to Blue

I was born with a storming inside of my soul
Runnin through clouds where the racing winds roll
Mama sang blues and daddy flew planes
I learned pretty early the sky hides your pains

These boots touching down in a thousand wing towns
Kept a heart lifting off with each jets screaming sounds
Chaseing the hush where the skies fission true
Lord heal my scars and fix me to blue

Fix me to blue like a banner that flies
In the highest cold breaths of my eyes open skies
Like stripes in the flag and the tone in my tune
Where freedom and sorrow share trails under moon
FIx me to blue let me rise let me stay
Like birds who've forgotten where land is the way

I have seen dawn's arisen to clear cockpit's view
Watched desert lit charts breaking free from the dew
I have spent true loves letters in high stratospheres
Carved in twin contrails of duty and tears

Am I blue like the denim worn thin by the times
or an azure winged lullabies church holy chimes
I am skyward in longing this rivetting deep
Still flying with saviors I promised to keep

Fix me to blue like the honor I swore
From takeoffs first rage to the clear oceans door
Like hymns for the gone to their flag raised on high
Like that voice in the static that still says to fly
Fix me to blue no matter the cost
Trade all my gold for your silvery frost

So paint up my casket to thresholds high hue
For the missions where love and the color ran true
Let anthems play soft for the lives that I knew
and write on the stone I was fixed to the blue
