Leave This Lady Be

In the shadows of another home, she learned to stand alone,
A little girl with a battered face, in a place where pain was known.
They told her to submit, to bow and to obey,
But she found a fire deep inside, and let it burn all doubt away

Oh, they tried to break her spirit, tried to steal her light,
But every blow that landed, only taught her how to fight.
She’s not a man, no, she’s something more,
A force of nature, a thunderstorm.

Think it's best just to leave this lady be,
She’s walked through hell and rose from the debris.
She may be scarred, but she’s standing strong,
A different kind of beautiful, where she belongs.
Leave this lady be, yeah, just leave her be.

They called her strange, said she was tough, not soft like other girls,
But they never saw the diamond, formed beneath the swirls.
Her eyes, they burn with wisdom, her hands are scarred and rough,
But in her chest, a heart of gold, and that’s more than enough.

Oh, they tried to silence her, tried to keep her small,
But she grew stronger with each fall.
She’s not a man, no, she’s something fierce,
A blazing star through the atmosphere.

Think it's best just to leave this lady be,
She’s conquered demons that you’ll never see.
She may be hardened, but she’s still pure,
A different kind of beautiful, strong and sure.
Leave this lady be, yeah, just leave her be.

She’s got the strength of a mountain, the grace of the sea,
A warrior’s heart, but still wild and free.
She wears her battles like armor, a story untold,
A mishapen beauty, carved out of gold.

Think it's best just to leave this lady be,
She’s found her place in her own history.
She may be bruised, but she’s unbroken,
A different kind of beautiful, her spirit outspoken.
Leave this lady be, yeah, just leave her be.

So if you see her passing by, with that fire in her eyes,
Just know she’s a survivor of a thousand goodbyes.
She’s not here for your pity, she’s here to be free,
So think it’s best just to leave this lady be.
Yeah, just leave her be, just leave her be.
